Synthy, scintillating, and completely mesmerizing, the music of Vancouver-based dream pop band Blonde Diamond is sure to become a favorite on anyone’s playlist this year.

The winners of the JUNO Master Class mentorship program, Blonde Diamond has already graced Spotify’s Viral Charts with their 2016 single “Feel Alright” and have performed across Canada, Europe, Australia, America, and India, sharing bills with heavy hitters including Portugal. The Man, Broken Social Scene, Bishop Briggs, Chromeo, Mother Mother.

As 2020 kicks off, the band is ready to wow audiences once again, dropping the music video for their single “4AM Eternal” in January. Sensual, mysterious, and alluring, the video easily draws viewers into its hypnotizing imagery and magnetic sound.

Blonde Diamond revealed some behind the scenes details about the making of the video with Musical Notes Global. Check ‘em out below!

1. The director Brandon William Fletcher and I had known each other casually around the music scene for a while, but serendipitously encountered one another at a time when we were both at really low points of our lives, and needed something fun and creative to work on. After a long phone call where we decided we didn't want to make art for anyone else but ourselves anymore, we conceived the framework for the 4AM Eternal video being about release, self-love and power, and not giving a flying fuck what anyone else thinks.

2. As opposed to our other big-budget music videos, we decided to do this one as punk rock as possible on a shoestring budget to really be as creative as possible without relying on money as the wow-factor. The whole video was shot in Brandon's apartment, with an intimate crew consisting of 3 other people outside the band itself. It was cathartic, it was stress-free, and it was the MOST FUN I've ever had doing a video!!

3. The animation sequence in the video was created by Greg Doble, who lives in Montreal, and we actually went to high school together in Calgary! We stayed in touch over the years and were always looking for something to collaborate on, and this project presented itself as the perfect opportunity.

4. The "mysterious white liquid" coming out of Bruce's mouth is almond milk. And yes, the red bowl Malcolm is licking out of says "bad dog" on it.
