Spanglish Fly Drops Vibrant New Album Ay Que Boogaloo!

Today multi-cultural Latin boogaloo group Spanglish Fly releases their sophomore album Ay Que Boogaloo!

Based in New York City, the critically acclaimed 11-piece band first burst onto the scene in 2009 and finds its origins in Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Venezuela, Japan, Argentina, Colombia, and Upper Manhattan.

Listening to Ay Que Boogaloo! is like witnessing a gleaming electric rainbow of colors materialize before your eyes. Opening with the punchy "Bugalú Pa' Mi Abuela" featuring El Callegueso, the album reworks the classic boogaloo sounda fusion of R&B/soul with mambo and Latin rhythmsand incorporates a variety of rich and vibrant elements and styles, including bolero, New Orleans funk, and Arabic chant.

Lead vocally by Mariella Gonzalez and Paloma Muñoz, the 10-track collection, which was recorded between Soundworks Recording Studio in Astoria, Queens and Strange Weather Studio in Brooklyn, also features colorful collaborations with a variety of guest stars. Boogaloo innovator Joe Bataan contributes his soulful vocals to the easygoing English-language track "New York Rules" while graphic artist Flaco Navaja features on zesty "Mister Dizzy Izzy," Snowboy joins on the instrumental Chain of Fools, and Rowan Ricardo Phillips accompanies on the sunny "Coco Helado."
