Bella Lucio!: A Rap Tribute to Lucio Dalla

Released today, the album Bella Lucio! pays homage to the late Italian singer-songwriter Lucio Dalla in an unusual way.

Bella Lucio! is not a typical tribute album. Overseen by Franco Godi, producer of Italian hip hop groups such as Articolo 31 and Gemelli Diversi, the album was created to commemorate Dalla's 2012 death and features some of Italy's most prominent rappers, including Clementino and Rocco Hunt.

The rappers reimagined Dalla's classic hits in their own styles, transforming them into original songs featuring Dalla's vocals. For example, "Caruso" inspired Clementino's "Sotto lo stesso cielo," and "Balla balla ballerino" inspired Mondo Marcio's "Mentre scrivo."

The album also includes one bonus track from Article 31, "L'impress eccezioniale," a hip hop version of Dalla's "Disperato erotico stomp."
