Nirob Islam stays true to who he is, and we love him for it.

Refusing to follow familial and cultural expectations and foregoing academia to pursue music, Islam began his career as a songwriter, having received writing credit for The Chainsmokers’ hit “All We Know” as well as the multi-platinum, award-winning song “The Ocean” by Mike Perry and SHY Martin. Now he’s going off on his own and is continuing to prove that what makes him different is in fact his strength.

The Stockholm-based artist dropped his latest gem “Westside” at the end of January, following the success of two warmly-received singles released in 2019. A chill R&B-flecked pop track, the song speaks to the importance of following one’s own path, being thankful, and maintaining self-confidence and self-belief in order to achieve one’s dreams.

“‘Westside’ was inspired by the struggles, success and overall journey that I’ve had with my best friend and writing partner over the past few years,” he explains. “I found it funny how self-doubt, disbelief and an overall lack of confidence are always present, no matter what level of success you can have creatively. Working with music is a double-edged sword where self expression and your emotions can be valued simply by what other people think. With those things in mind, I just wanted to make a song where I show appreciation to what I have and the people around me, and also to remind people not to overthink things too much.”
